LUDWIG SUPER SENSITIVE GOLD-FLAKE 30'S 6.5x14 Vintage Snare Drum Very Rare
What you are looking at is a very rare early 1930's Super Ludwig Super-Sensitive"Gold Flake" Snare Drum. This drum would be a great addition to any drummers Collection.
The drum is 6.5" by 14" Maple shell with Maple reinforcement rims the shell is in perfect round, Golden Flake Pearl finish, the bearing edges are original and in good condition. Single Flange Nickel over Brass Rims are also in perfect round, Ten Nickel over Brass Tubular Lugs, Super Sensitive throw with 10 adjustable Steel snare wires. The drum is sporting new Evans 56 Calftone head and a new Evans 200 snare side head.
Note:(These drums originally came with an internal attached snare wires that could be engaged with a lever at the top of the batter head) the hole for the lever is still present but the snare assembly is missing. The shell does have 4 holes that were added to install a more modern throw and butt plate. All of the tension rods are not original and 10 of the rim claws were replaced with newer claws.
4 of the lug mounting screws are not original, also 3 of the parts in the snare throw assembly are in a gold finish. The Gold wrap finish has some blemishes on it.
The nickel finish have some nicks and scratches appropriate for this drums age (please see photos). The wrap finish seam is tight. This 90 year old piece of drumming history is in perfect working condition.
