Rare Betsey Johnson Vintage Goth/Renaissance Jersey Top circa 1981 Size 10-12

I bought this top early in Betsey Johnson's neo-romantic gothic/punk/medieval period and until now, forty years later, have never been able to let it go; that should tell you how magical it is. So, no matter how many enchanting things happened when I wore this top, it's time for someone else to attend a ball and let the candlelight gleam off her beautiful shoulders and cleavage.

The deep purple fabric is stretchy and so supportive that you might be able to skip having to wear a bra. And that would be good because the shoulders pull waaaay down and a bra might be de trop. The firm and stretchy fabric pulls in the waist, hugs the hips and drops to long points over the belly-- like something Ophelia might have worn.

The leg-o-mutton sleeves are puffed at the top and seamed to hold their shape as they droop fetchingly from the shoulder. From the elbow down the sleeves are narrow, very long, and come to a graceful point over the hand. This is a genius creation and altogether a perfect top for the right person...
