Here is the legendary anomaly that is the Fostex MN-50. This is an optional battery operated (9Volt) 5 x 1 mixer with a built in compressor at a constant 6:1 ratio with variable release time and up to 20 dbs of gain reduction + with a 0.5 msec attack. Well known for its extreme compression abilities, it produces a gloriously trashy drum sound when the input is all the way up. The MN-50 is an aggressive, grabby, dirty compressor that colors everything it touches. It excels at smashing drum room mics into oblivion and turning peaky bass tracks into a thick, flat lines of crunchiness!
