The butt can be used as a hammer. The handle, and threaded butt cap features a water-tight "O" ring to seal a storage tube handle which holds matches, fishing hooks, line and a few lead sinkers.
Kershaw discontinued production of this knife in 1988. The below description of the knife is from a vintage Kershaw catalog: Its machete-shaped survival blade is made of Kershaw's AUS 8-A high-carbon stainless steel, sandblasted to a smooth non-reflective finish, and shaped with a super strong tang to assure a solid lock-up between the blade and the handle.
