You are in for an original and by now impossible-to-find Ercole Baldini Bike from the mid 50's. In the 50's Ercole Baldini achieved a crescendo of successes until becoming world champion in 1958. I researched much on this bike before making it available for sale. First of all, Ercole Baldini was an impressive cyclist since his first races as an amateur, with many important achievements in the worldwide Olympics (3 times gold) and on track, also becoming World Champion, Italian Champion and so on. In 2003 a museum on him was opened in Forli' (Italy) and in 2016 Baldini was inducted in the Italian Cyclist Hall of Fame! I spoke to Mino Baldini, son of Ercole, who confirmed the originality of the bike and explained that these models were made in very limited number (around 500). This is number 287! According to a long and exhaustive search, there are only two other of these bikes still alive in a private collector museum and this reveals how rare they are by now. I myself only knew the existence of these cobalt blue Baldini bikes by word of mouth before acquiring this beauty from a Dutch collector. Bike is all original but cobalt blue was re-done at some point, fortunately saving original decals and chrome, now protected under clear coat. As you can see this is a top of the range frame for that era with custom made artistic lugs (a-la-Nervex), lightened seatpost lug, light tubing, finely finished with chromed "soaks" (as we Italian call them) on fork and stays, Campagnolo front and rear drop outs, and built with top of the range components of that era. On bike specs and parts. 54,5cm Seat tube C-C. 54,5cm Top tube C-C. Rear derailleur with original metal pulleys. Campagnolo Gran Sport BB cable guide. Brake levers with integrated quick releases and original para hoods. Brake calipers with original Balilla pads. Balilla red textured brake cable outings. Magistroni or Way Assauto Senior. Campagnolo Gran Sport 3 pieces hubs. Regina Gran Sport Corse 5 speed freewheel. Urago Italia steel handlebar. Cobalt blue cotton bar tape (replaced with a NOS one). This is one of the rarest bikes for any fine and expert collector. Produced in very limited number. I hope to have described this Stupendous Ercole Baldini bike very well and I naturally recommend you to take a tour on pictures to complete the description but please don't hesitate to get in touch should you need any further info or picture.
