This is the Gibson Style O archtop guitar. Based on the head stock inlay of The Gibson and the color of the sunburst and the green interior of the case, it's most likely a 1920/21 guitar. Truly a masterpiece from a forgotten time - you MUST look at all the photos to take in how incredibly stylish, and gorgeous this guitar really is, and the best part is - it plays even better than it looks. The neck is straight and the action is excellent. These Gibson guitars were considered the most prestigious guitars of its time and is known to be the model design from which future Gibson archtop guitars were derived from.
The carved spruce top and walnut back and sides gives this guitar a well balanced bright projection, big volume and a strong presence throughout it's range. Excellent note articulation, along with chords ringing through like bells.
It has a bound ebony fingerboard, and a two piece mahogany neck. Trapezoid tailpiece, with the original bridge and pick guard. There is some finish checking, wear, marks and scratches. Things you would expect from a near 100 year old instrument and does not affect the performance whatsoever. It has a neck scale length of 24 3/4" and a nut width of 1 13/16".
It includes its original hardshell case, which is in fair condition. These guitars are becoming harder and harder to find, especially in this condition. If you are a serious player and lover of historical guitars, this is definitely for you. This guitar was just serviced by world renowned luthier Christian Mirabella.
His incredible work can be seen with his own custom built guitars, and truly a master luthier.
