Vintage Rare 1971 Homelite Ez-250 Automatic Chainsaw, Nice Condition, Super Ez

Hello, For sale here is a RARE and very clean 1971 HOMELITE EZ-250 AUTOMATIC chainsaw built on April 14, 1971. This saw is in very nice overall condition and features a healthy compression of 190 psi that starts, idles and runs well. This saw has been looked over from top to bottom, A to Z and has a few new parts installed. For those who are not familiar with the model EZ-250, they were only made in 1970 & 1971. What essentially became the model SUPER EZ, this model featured the special auto tensioning chain system known as "TENSION-RITE".

This required model specific drive case, guide bar, inner and outer bar plates, as well as clutch cover which has a spring loaded cam assembly to provide the necessary chain tension. All of these parts are present, in fact, this saw has a NOS knob and cam assembly. Likewise, also has a NOS rear handle half with perfect paint. During the servicing procedures all parts were cleaned of sawdust, debris and oil.

So what you WON'T receive is a saw filled with 50 years of crud. This saw has an original 16 HOMELITE Tension-Rite bar that has been nicely refurbished with original designed artwork and shows virtually no wear on the rails and sprocket tip end.

The chain is a NOS #38 semi-chisel type. Piston, cylinder and rings are in very nice condition. Decompression valve, trigger lock/fast idle, automatic and manual oilers work as they should. The rim sprocket (not spur sprocket) has minimal wear, the TR bar adjuster pin and clutch shoes are in good condition. Even present are the often misplaced fuel and oil cap tethers as well as the special built-in wire tachometer (tucked under the air filter cover). Here is a general list of the work performed: Entire saw was meticulously cleaned, crankcase seals and gaskets both pressure and vacuum checked, Phelon point set was polished and condenser condition was checked using a Heathkit model IT-28 and is within spec, starter recoil mechanism disassembled, cleaned and re-lubricated, Walbro HDC carburetor cleaned, rebuilt and re-tuned using a GTC TA-100 electronic tach, oil pump disassembled, cleaned and re-lubricated, clutch bearing checked and re-lubricated, fuel and oil cap duck-bill valves replaced, air filter washed. New parts include: NOS #38 chain, NOS Tension-Rite knob & cam assembly, NOS rear handle half, Walbro K-10-HDC carb kit, Oregon fuel filter, Tygon fuel line, duck-bill valves and Champion DJ-6J spark plug. Although, this saw is in nice overall condition for it's age, it does show normal wear and tear with some missing, chipped and scratched painted surfaces. IMPORTANT REMINDER: ALTHOUGH THE HDC CARBURETOR HAS BEEN CLEANED, REBUILT AND RETUNED, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT MINOR ADJUSTMENTS MAY BE REQUIRED BASED ON FINAL LOCATION.

IT IS HOWEVER, 100% USABLE AS-IS BUT MAY NEED ADDITIONAL CLEAR COAT FOR PROLONGED PROTECTION (if preserving it is important to you).
